Baby and Me Class

Baby and Me: | Top

Classes are grouped by age (6 to 14 mos. and 15 mos. to 3 yrs.) and run for a half hour. Your child’s first step in learning to swim will be a fun experience at Take Me To The Water. Class sizes are up to 6 infants, all accompanied by an adult.

Because it is important that classes are held in a warm pool, most of our pools range from 84-88 degrees. Baby and Me classes work on getting infants used to their new aquatic environment, including introduction to balance and buoyancy. The focus is also on teaching you (the parent), fundamental skills so you can continue to build your baby’s abilities at home.

Creative games are used to teach infants breath control, big arm movements, and leg kicks. Parents are exposed the repetitive movements that become the skill building blocks for the very near future. Classes are structured using songs, floating mats, and toys to help stimulate your child and most importantly, encourage fun!

Private Swim Lesson Class

Private class: | Top

Class ratio is one instructor with one student for a half hour and is designed for children 2.5-3 years of age. If your swimmer is potty trained, they are ready for these formal lessons.

Children start learning how to adjust to their new aquatic environment, granted they didn’t partake in a Baby and Me class. Beginning skills include: big arms, solider kicks, motor boat bubbles, splashing, assisted retrieving of objects tossed, assisted jumps off the side of the pool, getting back to the wall, and getting in and out of the pool, to name a few.

Repetitive movements create muscle memory and balance, which will aid in building their skill platforms in the future. We also offer private classes for hydrophobics (those who fear the water) and physically, mentally, and emotionally challenged students, who need special attention.

Semi Private Class

Semi Private class: | Top

Lessons are set up with either one or two other students (matched by the same age and/or ability) with one instructor. There is an option of half hour or 45-minute classes, which are available for swimmers ages four and up. The semi-private classes allow children to enjoy working with a partner(s) as they go through various challenges.

Your welcome to bring a friend when you sign up, or we will find one for you. Students start in groups based on whatever age and skill level they are. Your child’s level is easily evaluated over the phone or by viewing our skill level chart.

Our short-term goal is to develop skills so students can propel or create movement in the water. Coupling that with coordinated breathing, the idea is to streamline your child so they can become water safe. Elementary, but vital exercises such as big arms, soldier kicks, bubble breath, chicken-airplane-soldier, and superman glides are some of the terms you will always hear at our pools. The imaginative words help keep the attention and focus of our young swimmers.

Take Me To The Water is famous for our engaging instructors who will use creative techniques to educate your child while they are having fun. Before you know it, the time has come to sign your child up for the Take Me To The Water “Gators” swim team!

Adult Swim Class

Adult Classes: | Top

Lessons are set up with three students to one instructor and grouped by ability. You can choose between a half hour and 45-minute class, and just like our kids’ classes, adults are taught using creative methods.

Our skill levels chart will guide you through the course outline and help you designate your current level. REMEMBER, IT’S NEVER TOO LATE TO LEARN TO SWIM! Even if you’re a swimmer who’s just looking to advance your current abilities, Take Me To The Water can help you achieve your aquatic goals. Classes are available 7 days a week, with evening times available too!

Swim Team Class

Swim Team Classes: | Top

"The Gators" team is for children ages 6 to 14 years old that have already learned basic stroke techniques but want to be challenged in a fun, un-intimidating environment. The team practices only once or twice (optional) per week, for one hour per workout.

Practices are built around working on all four major strokes (Freestyle, backstroke, breast stroke, and butterfly) and developing center body (core) control. Students are taught advance techniques to streamline strokes and increase their effectiveness.

Swimmers receive a swim team suit with the “Gator” logo that is worn during practices and meets. Swim meets are held six times throughout the academic year. Meets are internal and swimmers race against fellow teammates, ensuring challenging match-ups. All participants receive medals or ribbons at the end of each meet. If that doesn’t sound cool enough, there is an end of the year pizza and trophy party… Go Gators Go!
